Week 8 Betting Action

This is a new feature I'm pretty much abusing this blog to record... Bryan Alsworth and I are going to track the betting action on the games and see how you would do just by betting the opposite direction from the majority of the betting public each week. My theory is you'll go right around .500, just like you would picking via any other conceivable system.

Broncos (+3.5) over RAVENS (Wrong, 0-1)

Ravens have 59% of the action.

Browns (+13) over BEARS (Wrong, 0-2)

Bears have 82% of the action.

BILLS (+3.5) over Texans (Wrong, 0-3)

Texans have 85% of the action.

49ers (+13.5) over COLTS (Right, 1-3)

The Colts have 88% of the action.

JETS (-3.5) over Dolphins (Wrong, 1-4)

Dolphins have 51% of the action. You know, time was, most of the lines would be like this. Vegas wins anytime it's inside 55-45 either way (because of the juice). But now it seems like Vegas has decided it's more profitable to set up lines to make everyone bet one way and make money off of three-team teasers and stuff.

Rams (+4) over LIONS (Right, 2-4)

Here's a sentence you likely haven't read in years and likely won't read for more years to come: The Lions have 72% of the action.

Seahawks (+9.5) over COWBOYS (Wrong, 2-5)

Cowboys have 85% of the action.

Eagles (+1) over Giants (Right, 3-5)

Giants have 80% of the action.

Raiders (+16.5) over CHARGERS (Right, 4-5)

Chargers have 68% of the action.

FLAMING THUMBTACKS (-3) over Jaguars (Right, 5-5)

Vegas wins: Jaguars have 54% of the action. Rule 5a will prevail.

PACKERS (-3) over Favres (Wrong, 5-6)

Favres have 67% of the action.

Panthers (+10) over CARDINALS (Wrong, 5-7)

Lock of the Week -- the Cardinals, amazingly, laying ten points, have 89% of the action. I am now 100% convinced, like lock of the year, that the Panthers will cover.

Falcons (+11) over SAINTS (Right, 6-7)

Saints have 83% of the action.
